EU New Chemicals Strategy; Webinar is focused on the key parameters of the EU policies concerning chemicals

Plastics are polymers. Polymers are not regulated in EU under REACH regulation. On the other hands, monomers have to be registered based on specific rules. Plastics are frequently articles (goods) and so under EU legal concept need to comply with the requirements for chemical substances in articles, the EU REACH registration in case of an intentionalô release, SCIP requirements in case of SHVCs above 0,1%, new requirements concerning "nano" and more, e.g. under the framework of the EU Plastics Strategy, at the request of the European Commission, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) prepared a restriction dossier under the REACH Regulation targeting intentionally added microplastics in products. 

An ERA is required for all new marketing authorisation applications for a medicinal product through a centralised, mutual recognition, decentralised or national procedure. For type II variations, the ERA dossier should be updated if there is an anticipated increase in the environmental exposure, e.g. a new indication which results in an increase in the extent of the use.

Overview of EU regulation of biocidal products and critical legislative concepts for BP authorisation

Companies placing hazardous mixtures on the market have to prepare information in an EU-harmonised Poison Centres Notification (PCN) format. The option is to submit this information centrally through ECHA’s submission portal in case of hazardous mixtures for consumer & professional use.

To increase the manufacture and supply of disinfectants on the European market, ECHA is supporting EU/EEA authorities to apply derogations from the normal authorisation requirement for biocidal products.

SCIP is the database for information on Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products) established under the Waste Framework Directive (WFD).

Regulation (EC) N° 1223/2009 on cosmetic products is the main regulatory framework for finished cosmetic products when placed on the EU market. It strengthens the safety of cosmetic products and streamlines the framework for all operators in the sector. Regardless of the manufacturing processes or the channels of distribution, cosmetic products placed on the EU market must be safe.

Safety assessment of cosmetic products is a required procedure in EU by the Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. The legislation sets standards and ensures that every ingredient in cosmetic products is safe to use on the human body.
